Special features
October 2010 saw the demise of two major areas of semaphore signalling: at Scarborough, we show the demolition of Falsgrave gantry; on the North Warwick line, 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe became the last Great Western locomotive to pass over the route and later in the month, the signal boxes at Henley in Arden and Shirley were demolished. We feature a selection of brief shots from our collection showing what we have lost on the line in the way of infrastructure in the last 20 years.
A 3 minute archive sequence from 1966 showing how Upwey bank looked in those far-off days before the trees took over (accompanies the Nunney Castle sequences on the Weymouth runs).
Moor Street station then and now, featuring archive footage from the early 1960s, the last day before closure on 26th September 1987, and the reopening of the terminus on 11th December 2010, featuring Pannier Tank 9600 and 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe (6½ minutes).
